Evaluation of the oxidative reactivity and electrical properties of soot particles

This paper focuses on the correlation between oxidative reactivity and electrical properties of soot particles. Soot particles were produced from an n-heptane inverse diffusion flame sampled at different heights above burner (HAB) using a thermophoretic probe sampling techniques. The characterized by conductivity work function, which evaluated atomic force microscopy. was assessed in terms activation energy (Ea) characteristic oxidation temperatures, including peak temperature (TP) burnout (Tb), thermogravimetric analysis. As gradually age, they have various distributions. average presents increase three orders magnitude when increasing HAB 10 to 60 mm. function bulk shows with maturation. reduces during maturation process because values Ea, TP, Tb show increases HAB. For particles, Ea Tp strongly positive correlations logarithm conductivity. Thus, can serve as indicator reactivity.
